The White Cathedral

One of the first things the Eye of Wisdom did when it reached the shores of the Candara continent 120 years ago was to erect a city out of the white granite from Silverspring. Construction lasted 20 years. They named the city Varanas.

During the first century, Varanas prospered and evolved into what it is today. In all that time, the Eye of Wisdom took care of the city with grim determination, even though it publicly stressed the place was only meant as a stronghold.

The organization’s true intentions lay hidden, but plenty of rumors abounded.

The Council of Varanas eventually evolved into a mighty force and shook the balance of power in the city. The council combines the most distinguished families, which lay claim to control the matters of the city without interference. However, in the council itself, there are various factions that compete for power and influence and accuse each other of corruption and incompetence.

Varanas’ high walls and revered buildings cause many travelers to pause in awe the moment they catch glimpse of it on the horizon. The city is glorified as the pristine connection of the art of masonry reaching toward the heavens.

Others are not swayed by its beauty and vilify it as the home of greed and unparalleled arrogance. However, only thugs, crooks and criminals think that way, so they were banned years ago.
