Dual class system
When you first start Runes of Magic, you will choose your primary class: warrior, scout, priest, knight, mage, rogue, druid or warden. When you reach level 10, you can add a secondary class. There are up to 40 individual class combinations, each of which has its own unique set of elite skills.
Generally, all classes in Runes of Magic can serve as either the primary or secondary class. To make your secondary class your primary class or vice versa, you must visit a special class trainer, such as the one in Varanas. You have full access to the complete level-based skill set of your active primary class, but only the non-specific skill set of your secondary class is available.
Character attributes of the secondary class equal 10 percent of those of the primary class. Experience, attribute and talent points are applied only to the active primary class, and the level of the secondary class cannot exceed the level of the primary class. To level the secondary class, you have to register it with any class trainer as your primary class.
Tactical options
Using the Runes of Magic dual class system wisely, you can shape your character into a true hero. With scout as a secondary class, you'd be able to use bows. With rogue as a secondary class, you'd be able to use projectile weapons. With warrior as a secondary class, you'd be able to use axes. Combining classes of melee fighters with those of range combatants opens many tactical possibilities for solo and group combat.
Besides physical abilities, the various classes make use of various energy types. Warriors use rage, scouts use focus, rogues need energy, and mages, priests and knights fight with mana. You can apply the energy types independently, using the dual class system to create skilled experts. For example, you could create a mighty bombardier by combining a scout and mage. If the character runs out of focus, simply switch to mana and launch an attack using your secondary mage class. And combining the knight and warrior classes would create the ultimate melee fighter. But be careful with some combinations: Mages and priests use the same mana pool, which could quickly deplete your resources.
